Our impact

We reverse pervasive unemployment for our graduates and help them achieve economic mobility for themselves and their families.

140,992

graduates across 17 countries since launching in 2015

Who We Serve

We believe that great employees are identified through their skills, rather than their demographics

Our learners have a range of profiles by age, education, ethnicity, gender and income.

Employment impact

Graduates have thriving, high-quality career paths

At 2-5 years post graduation, our alumni have sustained employment in high quality job roles, which is a strong indicator of continued wellbeing and career growth

Alumni are working in high quality jobs and advancing in their careers

Three different types of country economies

Graduates make strong progress on their economic mobility journeys

We want to see our graduates in jobs that provide stable, living wage incomes and we see strong progress from different starting points. In both tech and non-tech sectors, living wage attainment rises significantly after completing a Generation program and continues to grow thereafter.

Living wage attainment continues to grow over the 2-5 year period, with graduates having a median annual income growth rate of 9% from their first job post Generation

Alumni are advancing in their own educational attainment and supporting the next generation to do so – 25% of alumni report investing in further education for themselves. In households with children, 40% of alumni paid for education of children in their family

Financial Impact

Our graduates are earning salaries they use to make ends meet and for education, housing, healthcare, and more

Our impact in action

As we advance all of these dimensions, we can start to create systemic change

We seek to change the way employers hire, and we support them to hire from a broad talent pipeline. We look at the percentage of entry-level positions filled by Generation graduates in a given city and profession to understand if we are changing the employment landscape. We call this “impact share”. In 13 locations across seven countries, Generation graduates now hold more than 5% of entry-level jobs for target professions.

Economic mobility is our impact goal. Reaching this goal means advancing outcomes related to breadth, depth, and durability of impact. Each of these pillars is equally important, and we work to move all three forward together.”

Independent Third Party Impact Assessments

As we grow, independent third party evaluations help assess our program impact for learners, graduates, and employers, so that we can continue to improve and expand our programs. We have begun conducting evaluations in several of our countries with the support of experienced research agencies and academics.

Partnerships & Collaborations for Success: Europe Impact Report 2024-2025

In celebration of Europe Day, we’re delighted to launch our Generation Europe Impact Report 2024–2025, dedicated to the power of partnerships and collaboration in creating sustainable career pathways across Europe.

In Europe, since our first programme in Spain in 2015, Generation has worked hand in hand with public institutions, employers, funders, training providers, and pan-European initiatives to tackle the challenges of unemployment and skills mismatches. This report highlights how such collaborations have enabled us to support nearly 20,000 graduates into life-changing employment across France, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and the UK.
